Paris Reckoning is available on Amazon
Paris Reckoning published today, and I find myself in the strange position every author knows — the moment when a book that has lived entirely in your head, and then entirely on your screen, becomes a thing other people can read.
I’ve been working on this one for the better part of a year. Some of you helped me get it ready — you requested advance copies back in May and read them, and a number of you have already posted reviews. That means more than I can easily say. Early reviews are the oxygen a new book breathes, and you provided them.
For those of you meeting Sandrine Brennan for the first time: she goes by Sandi. She walked away from a near-certain promotion to full colonel to take the job she’d always wanted — CEO of a new intelligence-backed security firm, headquartered in Paris. She recruited Eddie Grant to run her European operations. She spent two years before that tracking Russian money and synthetic drug pipelines across the Sahel to earn the right to be here.
Now she’s in Paris, and for the first time in years, she’s letting herself want something beyond the next mission. Then the man she met at Eddie’s language school disappears — leaving behind a photograph, a transferred account she never asked for, and no explanation at all.
Sandi doesn’t wait for one.
The story she walks into is darker and more contemporary than anything in the Eddie Grant novels. Eddie’s readers will feel right at home. But Sandi stands on her own, and she’s more capable than Eddie — and less conflicted about it. He knows it. So does everyone who gets in her way.
Paris Reckoning is available now on Amazon in Kindle and Kindle Unlimited versions. Print and audio versions will be available in August.

“Paris Reckoning” is the first book in the author’s new Sandi Brennan series. A captivating mystery, a strong sense of place, and intriguing characters all work together to pull readers into the telling of the tale from the outset. This action-packed thriller keeps readers guessing. Tension-filled and suspenseful, readers will find it difficult to set this book aside before turning the final page.
The twisty plot touches on espionage, hostage rescues, and private militaries as well as some romance and an captivating historical art mystery. There’s a dark edge to the narrative, but the evolving story leads to a satisfying denouement.

Paris Reckoning delivers a fast, intelligent thriller featuring a savvy, seductive former CIA agent with a complicated past—and a dangerous mission to recover a long-lost Raphael painting. John Pearce's gripping new novel blends suspense, style, and high-stakes action into a story that entertained me from first page to last. Fans of Pearce's Eddie Grant series—and newcomers alike—will be delighted to discover this is the opening book in a bold new series.

The characters draw you in and make you care about their lives. The main character is a strong, mature woman, which makes it easy for us women to relate to, but also wonderfully relatable for the male reader also. I can't wait for the next book to come out. Highly recommended this book, and this author.
